The new 70
million dollar Didim D-Marin
that opened May 1st,
2009 is located between Third
Beach and Parlementerler Sitesi. This marina is constructed on a
500,000 square meter plot by the
Dogus Group Company. The marina
is being built on a
build-operate-transfer model for
25 years by the Dogus Group, one
of Turkey’s leading
construction companies.

It will have a
capacity of 600 berths, 600
spaces in the sea and a travel
lift for 400 tonnes and 75
tonnes. The marina will have
ferryboat management for cruises
to the Greek islands of Kalimnos,
Kos and Leros, as well as a
customs post, port authority
facilities and a passport control
unit. This marina will be one of
the largest marinas on the Aegean
and Mediterranean coasts. It will
service even the needs of
mega-yachts, which are increasing
in the Aegean and Eastern
Mediterranean Sea. |

Berths at the marina
will be available for long leases
directly from D-Marin and will offer
incoming boats TV and internet
connection, as well as electric and water
services. |
The marina will also
include a petrol station, shopping
centre, supermarket, banks, swimming
pool, fitness centre, sports facilities
and a culture centre. |
The official
ground-breaking of the Didim Marina took
place on February 22 of 2007 and was attended by
marina builder’s Dogus’ Chief
Executive Ferit Sahenk and Vice
Chairwoman Filiz Sahenk, as well as Didim
Mayor Mumin Kamaci, Aydin Governor
Mustafa Malay and Transport Minister
Binali Yildirim. |
During the ceremony
Dogus’ Chief Executive Ferit Sahenk
said that the Didim marina would bring
extra new business to the area. He also
said that yachtsmen would be keen to use
the marina as it was on the Cesme,
Kusadasi, Bodrum, Datca and Marmaris
routes, while ferry boats from the Greek
islands of Kos, Samos, Kalimnos, Leros
and Patmos would be an addition. Mayor of
Didim Mumin Kamaci also said the marina
will be an important investment for the
country in general and will help revive
the regional economy. Furthermore, the
Transport Minister, Binali Yildirim, said
that the project will be the key to
providing a 12 month tourism economy for
Altinkum and the rest of the resort. |
